MyPolis

UI/UX Mobile App & Civic Tech Solution

Work for MyPolis (IADE Professional Week 2024–2025)
UX Research, UI Design, Figma Prototyping & Pitch Deck

Project Overview

Developed during IADE's Professional Week in collaboration with MyPolis, this project addresses the disconnect between youth (ages 12–18) and political representatives. Moving beyond traditional, once-a-year municipal assemblies, our challenge was to engineer an intuitive digital tool fostering year-round civic engagement and transparent political dialogue.

01. The Challenge & Ideation

Recognizing the daily technological habits of younger demographics, we designed a dedicated mobile application that demystifies local and national governance. The goal was to build a secure, long-term space that balances official participatory mechanisms with relatable educational resources, youth-led news, and podcasts.

02. Architecture & Onboarding

Prototyped end-to-end in Figma, the app incorporates a secure registration flow featuring citizen verification to prevent bots while ensuring safe community discussions. The landing interface welcomes users with immediate access to local initiatives, breaking news, and quick navigation across Lisbon's parish councils (Juntas de Freguesia).

03. Educational Content & Podcasts

To establish baseline political literacy, the platform includes interactive historical timelines (from Portugal's foundation to the Revolution) alongside multi-tiered governance overviews. A weekly podcast hub ("Faz-te Ouvir") pairs bite-sized political recaps with downloadable reference guides and an interactive Q&A question box.

04. Interactive Proposals & Community Chats

The "Conversas" system introduces structured dialogue: open neighborhood problem threads automatically shift into formal "Proposal Mode" once reaching 20 community participants. Verified broadcast channels give politicians a direct line to youth, while filtered forums encourage grassroots civic collaboration.

05. Cultural Agenda & Civic Gamification

Users can track civic strikes, public debates, and town halls through the integrated calendar with granular notification alerts. The profile settings center displays personal participation records, saved podcasts, and tracking badges, motivating continuous learning and empowered democratic action.
